There are many opportunities to become a leader within SLU Habitat for Humanity or even HFH St. Louis. It takes dedication and hard work, but it may be one of the most rewarding experience you have while at SLU. You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills while supporting a fantastic organization. Consider the opportunities below, and talk to one of our current student leaders about leading the club. SLU Habitat for Humanity Executive Board Our Executive Board is made up of 11 student positions. Each one carries unique responsibilities and requires a different skill set. The "E-board" meets weekly to plan upcoming meetings, events, and fundraisers. They also work throughout the week individually to accomplish their own tasks. Being an E-board member is a exciting opportunity. You will work with a fun group of students to organize all of the SLU Habitat events. Executive Board elections are held every spring, and the position is held for the following school year. To be added to the ballot, you must be nominated by a club member or yourself. You will then have the chance to explain to the club why you are the best person for the position you are running for. More information regarding the election process is presented early in the spring semester, so be on the lookout! Feel free to ask any of the E-board members about their positions to learn more as well. Assistant Vice Presidents AVP's are student leaders who assist the Vice Presidents of the E-board. Almost all VP's have an AVP each semester. Club members interested in becoming an AVP must apply for the position early in the semester. AVP's are chosen for 1 semester. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about SLU Habitat and to see how E-board runs the club. You will have the chance to sit in on E-board meetings and help your respective Vice President with their duties. AVP's have become essential to the success of the club. We will announce when the application process is opened through our meetings and the weekly mailer. Social Media Master (NEW!) With our increased use of social media, we found the need for a leadership position to manage all our of SM outlets. This person will update the website, Facebook, Twitter, and SLU Groups and will explore other SM options. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in Public Relations or Social Media. In addition to holding a quasi-leadership position, the "SMM" will also be able to attend E-board meetings and learn more about how SLU Habitat is run. Habitat for Humanity St. Louis Internships The local HFH affiliate is located very close to campus. HFH STL offers students the opportunity to work within their organization as interns. There are internships in many areas including marketing, photography, videography, volunteer services, and event planning. Check out all the openings and the application process at there website. Crew Leaders HFH St. Louis is also in need of Crew Leaders. These individuals are trained in a few construction and leadership classes through St. Louis Community College. They then lead groups of 5-6 volunteers on the build sites and oversee different construction activities. If you love Habitat builds, this is a great continuous volunteering opportunity!
